Competitive antagonist of acetylcholine at all muscarinic receptor site

Indication

Pre anaesthetic
Antispasmodic
Broncodilator
Cardiac stimulant
Antidote to anticholinesterase
Sinus bradycardia
Cardiac arrhythmia
Brady arrhythmia
Organophosphate poisoning
Carbamate poisoning
Opthalmic ointment

Dose

PRE ANAESTHETIC

Cat and dog @ 0.02-0.1 mg/kg IM/SC


Cattle and horse @ 0.02-0.06 mg/kg IM/SC

ANTI CHOLINESTERASE

Cat and dog @ 0.2-2 mg/kg (1/4 IV and 3/4 IM/SC then same or half dose at 3-4 hours interval IM/SC )

Cattle, Horse, Sheep and goats @ 0.2-0.5 mg/kg (1/4 IV and 3/4 IM/SC then same or half dose at 3-4 hours interval IM/SC )

For adjunctive treatment of BRADYCARDIA


Cat & dog @ 0.02-0.04 mg/kg IM/SC/IV
@ 0.04 mg/kg PO 3-4 times daily


For opthalmic use 

0.5-2% opthalmic solution
1 drop, 2-3 times daily until get pupillary dilatation

Contraindications

Glaucoma
CHF
Myocardial ischemia
Intestinal hypomotility
Tachycardia
Obstructive uropathy
Hepatic or renal disease
GI infection

Adverse Effects

Dry mouth
Dysphagia
Constipation
Increased thirst
mydriasis
Tachycardia
Tachypnoea restlessness urine retention
