Fluoroquinolones antibiotics

Action
  • Inhibits specific bacterial enzymes (bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase) needed for the bacteria to replicate and repair its DNA.
  • Synthetic broad spectrum antibiotic with antibacterial activity against a wide range of bacteria including pseudomonas, staphylococcus, haemophilus, Enterobacter and E. coli.
Indication
  • Superficial skin infections (pyodermas)
  • Respiratory infections
  • Haemorrhagic Septicemia
  • Bovine Respiratory Disease
  • Pneumonia and Bronchopneumonia
  • Acute & Chronic Mastitis
  • Urinary bladder, kidney, prostrate, skin infection.
Dose

Cat - 2 mg per KG (IV, SC,oral ).

Dog-2 mg per KG (IV, IM,SC)

  • 9kg (20lb)                half 50mg tablet
  • 18kg (40lb)              one 50mg tablet
  • 36kg (80lb)              two 50mg tablets

Poultry - 2mg per kg(Oral).

Conditions

  • Mastitis: Daily dosing @ 2mg/kg B.wt. (1ml/50kg B.wt.) for 3 to 5 days
    by IV/IM/SC route.
  • Respiratory Disease: Single shot @8mg/Kg B.wt. (4m/50kg B.wt.)
    by IM route
Contraindications
  • Allergic
  • Animal which has GIT problem.
  • Kidney or liver disease or a central nervous system disorder
  • Under one year age.
  • Pregnancy -Fetotoxicity
Adverse Effects
  • Fetotoxicity
  • Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, diarrhoea and lethargy.
  • Convulsions or seizures are a rare side effect in pets with CNS disorders.
Availability

Inj Marbomet 30 ml (100mg/ml) (INTAS)

Tab Marbomet - 50 mg

Marbomet tablets 50mg  once daily with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
