Anti viral drug - Purine analogue 

Synthetic guanosine nucleoside analogue substitute guanosine in DNA synthesis and inhibits viral replication

• Herpes viral infection

Birds @ 80 mg/kg PO 3 times daily

Horse @ 10 mg/kg Slow IV 2 times daily

Dogs and Cats @ 3mg/kg PO 5 times daily for 10 days and upto 10 mg/kg PO 5 times daily for next 10 days

10-20 mg/kg slow IV infusion 3 times daily

• Renal impairment
• Dehydration 
• Hypersensitive patient

Oral - GI disturbance

IV - Renal insufficiency in dehydrated state

Topical - Local irritation
