Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis

bacteriostatic, broad spectrum antibiotics, rickettsial , spirocheter mycoplasma and other microbes

• Cattle = normal dope = 5-10 mg/ kg IM OD 2.5-5mg/kg IV OD 
• Anaplasma 20mg/kg for control or prevention every 21-28 days IM
• For eliminating coma state 22mg/kg IM or IV for 5 days
• Theileria 20mg/kg IV or IM for 10 days 
• Sheep/Goat - 6-11 mg/kg IV or IM
• Horse 6.6-10 mg/kg slow IV
• Dog - 7.5-10 mg/kg IV, BD 10-20mg/kg PO , BD
• Cats - mycoplasma 10-25 mg / kg IV , TID for 5-7 days  .Heamobartonelcosis - 16-20mg/kg PO, TID
• Birds controlling outbreak -200mg/kg IM OD 3-5 days .   Psittacosis 50mg/kg IM OD, 3-5 days 

Hypersensitivity reford fetel skeletal development, Hepatotoxicity , teratogenic effect (2nd half of pregnancy)

• Rapid IV can cause cardiac arrhythmias and transient collapse due to chelation of intravascular ca2+ ions
• Oral tetracycline should not be given to the Cats cause fever, hair loss,colic vomiting, diarrhoea, hypotension
